The Hometown Mission

The Bible commands Christians to, Go ye therefore, and teach all nations (Matthew 28:19). I know that God has led me to take his Gospel to African nations, but though my husband is retired and we are empty nesters, like most Christians, we are unable to spend all four seasons in Africa. But evangelism starts at home, in the local church, and in our case, in elementary schools here at home.

At the age of 16, I attended Christian Youth in Action (CYIA) in Dallas, Texas under the direction of Jim Davidhizar, known to many as Mr. D. That early training prepared me to teach children in backyard, open-air, 5-Day clubs and in Children Church.

For the past 18 years, this ministry has captured much of my time and energy. Elementary schools offer unique opportunities to evangelize and disciple a maximum number of children in one local place. My husband, Johnny and I and several volunteers are now able to plant Gospel seeds to four elementary schools and two daycare centers in my hometown of Huntsville, Texas. The Harvest has been bountiful. For many children, this becomes their church where they can accept Christ, pray, worship, sing, and grow in their walk with the Lord.
